Many parents have been in a situation where they wake one day and the house help they have been relying on suddenly says she is quitting her job with immediate effect without giving them adequate notice to look for a replacement. Trying to make ends meet through a regular job is challenging enough without the added burden of having to worry about finding a reliable someone to watch over the kids at home. No wonder, now-a-days, parents are looking beyond the traditional house helps and are turning to day-care centers for the much needed watch over their children while they take care, of their daily duty callings.

This is a business which can be based at a private home and anyone, who loves being with kids, is sure to love it and at the same time, make adequate revenue for themselves. Due to the modern high cost of living, parents have been relying on established day-care centers to look after their children while they work. These conditions force parents to work for very long hours, leaving them little or no time to be with their children. Relatives and close friends may occasionally offer to mind the little ones but this is often a limited option. Alternative arrangements such as nannies are expensive and only high-income families can afford them. In fact, research statistics show that day-care centers are among the leading businesses in the United States today.

Day-care services are in such a high demand that parents start booking a place for their young one even before they are born! Those who can’t get in are put on a waiting list. According to Children’s Defense Fund, a non governmental organization supervising the welfare of the children in the US, nearly 30% of children under the age five with working mothers attend day-care facility.

Some facilities accept babies as young as six weeks old, and many allow children to stay until they enter Kindergarten. Day-Care is popular because parents don’t have to negotiate pay as is the case of nannies and babysitters, and unlike nannies, centers won’t just get up and quit; care is available when you need it.

So, I would urge anyone with an eye for a new business opportunity and have space in their homes to consider day-care business as an alternative income generating venture. You will never go wrong if your talents lie in taking care of kids. A word of caution though, before you start or after starting the care center, you should be aware that, parents pays a close attention to the day-care center staff morale and expertise, as well as the safety features and measures around the center and it is up to the owner, to make sure they conform with this in order to get good business.

Child Care And Mommy – Letting The Mom In You Care For The Kid…

The hunt for the basic childcare guidelines should start as soon as you get to know your due date. The reason behind this is that the early start provides us with ample time to go through all the available childcare options. Before settling with a particular childcare provider, many things have to be considered. In case you are planning to opt for an in-home caretaker, then you must be sure about the caregiver’s professional at least for the last five years. For this, you can take references from the past employers of the caretaker. This is important because it is not mandatory for caretakers to have a license. You need to ask for phone numbers and names. You should also not hesitate to talk to people who know the caretaker and have employed them before. You need to be very cautious while choosing the in-house caregiver as they are quite expensive and will also have to stay with your child even when you might be out. Thus, do not go for a caregiver who is not able to provide enough information about his/her past records.

The next option that is available is family childcare. These types of environment are more casual and are less expensive and also have only a limited number of children enrolled in it. This kind of childcare makes it mandatory for you drop and pick up your kid from a certain person’s place. In many cases, you will be charged more if you are going to pick your child later than usual. Remember that these caregivers are doing it as a nine-to-five business. However, it is important that you see to it that they are licensed as how they do their work differs from every individual caretaker. Thus, the references from other similar parents are of prime importance.

The next alternative is to leave your kid at a day care centre which has been licensed. But, the point to be noted here is that your child will receive less individual attention in here. Another negative impact of this is that your child may develop illness that might be caused due to interaction between so many children. However, the benefits of such types of day care centers are many. They do not have very strict rules about the timings and your child will be able to interact with more number of children and learn more in the process.

The best time to visit all prospective childcare centers is before you have your kid. You can make checklists and notes for future reference before you select the perfect place for your tiny tot. You can also make use of the many websites providing such information for this purpose. In case you plan to get back to your work after the maternity leave period, having a number of providers waiting will make your back to work schedule less stressful. The best thing to do in such cases is to opt for an on-call day care provider who can drop in to take care of your kid even during emergencies when you need someone to take care of your kid urgently. This would surely help you to get adjusted and get back to your schedule.

It is very important for the child to play with the toys, and this would possibly be one of the best pastimes for most of the kids who are in the daycare. It gives them immense pleasure in playing with their favorite toys. Apart from this, the kids also like playing with colors, and clays. There are several ways to prevent any kind of hazards like preventing the kid from putting anything dangerous into its mouth, and this is being discussed here.

To make your day care centre the ideal one, you need to have all the necessary equipments. This list includes high chairs, cribs, strollers, booster seats, toys and car seats. The decision regarding what kind of toys are to be bought is a tough one. This is because the needs of children vary according to the tastes and age of the children. The same type of toy may not satisfy all the kids.

Children till about six months old need toys which do not frustrate them. This is because they are not very mobile and thus need toys which allow them to interact in a better manner. For such kids, fluffy soft toys which they can put in their mouth are the best option. It would be better if such toys make noise when they are pressed. However, such items should not have loose parts, sharp edges and too much of hair in them. Colorful blankets with interesting patterns and colorful pictures are good ways to capture their interest of the children. Bouncy seats will enhance better interaction and make the child learn to make use of his hands to reach out for things.

For kids who are between the ages of six months and one year, objects which help them to explore objects are suggested. This is the right age to introduce bathtub, telephones, plastic keys, rattles, and all other objects without any choking hazard which the child can hold on to easily. Soft balls are also a great option as the effect of seeing the ball move once they throw it astonishes the child.

For the child between the ages of one to two years, all objects which provide a good base for them to interact are suggested. Toys with sharp edges and loose parts must still be avoided. All things which make noise such as xylophones, plastic pianos, spoons and bowls are considered good options. Building blocks are also a great idea as they help the child to construct shapes and break them down. Lots of picture books, colorful pictures and illustrations and board books are also nice and interesting options.

For children between two to four years of age, toys that explore them to experiment with their creativity are to be encouraged. This is the age when the little kids begin to play with their own imaginations and learn the art of playing with other kids. Toy vehicles, large action figures, doll sized infant gears and dolls, play food and kitchens, ride-on toys, building blocks, balls, playground equipment and all other objects which provide an outlet to bring out their energy are great options. You can also stock up large amounts of finger paints, water colors, washable markers and other coloring materials, coloring books and paper. This is an amazing way to keep the kids occupied even on any given day.
